LYNN – A judge ordered a Dorchester man held pending trial on charges the man tried to strangle his pregnant girlfriend to death after forcing his way into her home.William McNeill, 27, of 137 Olney St., Dorchester, was arrested and charged with armed burglary, malicious and wanton defacement of property, assault and battery, violation of an abuse-prevention order, assault and battery on a pregnant victim, witness intimidation, assault to murder, reckless endangerment of a child; and possession of Class B drugs; at 10:15 p.m. Dec. 5.He was arraigned on the charges the following day where a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.The alleged victim told police McNeill punched her in the stomach – knowing she was pregnant with their fourth child – after an argument when she learned he had an affair. Although police were called to the home immediately after the argument, the alleged victim said she was too afraid to tell officers of the alleged assault and just asked that McNeill leave.But McNeill allegedly returned shortly thereafter and allegedly kicked the door in when the alleged victim would not let him inside. The alleged victim told police McNeill punched her, causing her to drop a child. McNeill also allegedly choked the alleged victim while threatening to kill her because she had called police to the home earlier.At McNeill’s arraignment, Judge James LaMothe ordered McNeill held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing. After a hearing on Thursday, LaMothe found McNeill to be dangerous and ruled that no conditions of release could ensure the safety of the alleged victim, according to court documents.
