(The suspect) then struck her a second time with the bat in the upper back area.”But the woman fought back.”She was able to pick up the bat and proceeded to strike (the suspect) two or three times as he attempted to get up from the ground.”Miguel Betance-Suarez, (also referred to as Miguel Betance), 62, of 16 Pingree St. #2, Salem, was arrested on a warrant for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; witness intimidation; and malicious destruction of property +$250; at 2:03 p.m. Thursday. He was arraigned on the charges Friday in Lynn District Court where a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.Police reported responding to a Franklin Street address at 4 p.m. last Monday and finding the alleged victim bleeding from her nose and Betance-Suarez driving away.”Upon looking at Betance-Suarez I immediately observed severe facial injuries, his left arm appeared to have been broken as there was a hole in the elbow and it appeared as if his arm was just dangling by his side,” Lynn Police Officer Oscar Flores Jr. reported. “I also observed blood dripping from both arms and his face.”Police reported there was blood smeared throughout the driver’s side of the vehicle and Betance-Suarez smelled of alcohol. Betance-Suarez said only (but repeatedly) that he was supposed to meet the alleged victim for dinner, according to police. The alleged victim told officers she was pulling into her driveway when she saw Betance-Suarez waiting in his car. She told police Betance-Suarez had been harassing her and had threatened to kill her, so she tried to turn around. But Betance-Suarez allegedly drove in front of her and then came towards her with a baseball bat and began swinging. The alleged victim told police she lost consciousness after being struck in the nose, then woke up and got out of her vehicle and began running, police reported.
