LYNN – A judge ordered $500 and $1,000 cash bail, respectively, for two men who allegedly stole several guns from a storage locker and are suspected of breaking into several other lockers at the same facility.”Additional charges may be coming,” Essex Assistant District Attorney Justin Edwards said in Lynn District Court Thursday.Steven Piazzo, 23, of 19 Franklin St. #204, Lee, and Patrick Geary, 42, of 170 S. Common St. #811, each pleaded not guilty to nighttime felony breaking and entering; and receiving stolen property +$250, two counts.Police responded to The Public Storage at 595 Lynnway Tuesday on the report of guns stolen from a storage locker, according to a report by Lynn Police Officer Paul Galatis.Police said items reported missing included a painting, winter clothing and three guns: a 22 caliber Ruger, a Smith and Wesson rifle and a 40 caliber Sig, all of which had locks and no ammunition.Police noted several lockers in the same floor and area of the facility had also been burglarized. The single exception was a unit rented by Geary’s mother and which police learned Geary had visited several times over the past few days, according to police.Surveillance video showed Piazzo’s car appeared when the code to Geary’s locker was entered, police reported. The surveillance video also allegedly shows two individuals present in the car and carrying items that appear similar to the stolen clothing. Police identified the two individuals as Geary and Piazzo from this video and video and information from reports of an unrelated theft.Geary’s mother allowed police to open her locker and officers found the stolen rifle and several pieces of stolen clothing positively identified by its owner, police reported. Geary’s mother also positively identified Piazzo as having been with her son during the time the alleged thefts occurred.Edwards said other items in Geary’s locker had yet to be positively identified as stolen. But police were contacting the owners whose lockers had been burglarized and officers expected to file additional charges, Edwards said.He requested Geary be held on $5,000 cash bail, citing the defendant’s record of committed time and previous drug and larceny charges.Edwards requested Piazzo, who also had a brief record of larceny charges, be held on $2,500 cash bail.Defense attorney Todd Siegel requested a small cash bail or personal recognizance for Geary.Defense attorney Stephen O’Malley said there was no fingerprints or surveillance video that definitively put Piazzo at the storage facility. O’Malley also requested a small cash bail or personal recognizance.Judge Joseph Jennings ordered Geary held on $1,000 cash bail and set $500 cash bail for Piazzo.Both are scheduled to return to court Nov. 6.
