For the second consecutive week, the Lynn Tech football team had to face Commonwealth Conference/Small rival Chelsea as a part of the non-qualifier round in Division 6 North.Unfortunately for the Tigers, the result was the same as when the two teams had played seven days earlier at Manning Field.Kalvin Duran and Sammy Rivera scored third quarter touchdowns for the Red Devils as they pulled away in the second half to take a 20-6 win over a banged-up Tech team.”We had some miscues in the third quarter and it cost us,” Tech coach James Runner said. “But the kids played hard. Chelsea is a good football team and they came in and beat us twice in a row at home. Credit to them.”The Tigers (3-5) took the lead in the first quarter on a Rafy Lora to Justin Lewis touchdown pass. It stayed that way until halftime as the elements made moving the ball difficult for both teams at times.Tech would be its own worst enemy in the second half, however, turning the ball over three times. The Red Devils took advantage of two of the turnovers, scoring touchdowns that gave them the lead for good.Beverly 12, Wilmington 0At Hurd Stadium in Beverly, the fourth-seeded Panthers (4-4) slogged through the mud and rain to move on to face No. 1 Masconomet Friday (7) in the Division 3 Northeast semifinals.Beverly got a second quarter touchdown from Sam Abate to take the lead.
