The Saugus Town Clerk said Wednesday it had certified enough signatures to trigger a recall election against Board of Selectmen Chairman Ellen Faiella, Vice Chairman Maureen Dever, Paul Allan and Stephen Castinetti. The special election is scheduled for Feb. 3, 2015.The recall effort came about in the wake of a 4-1 vote by selectmen on Oct. 29 to terminate Town Manager Scott Crabtree. Save Saugus PAC collected signatures and turned in more than 5,400 signatures for each selectman on Nov. 10. According to the Town Charter, at least 4,441 certified signatures were required for each selectman Save Saugus was attempting to recall.According to Town Clerk Ellen Schena, there were 4,949 certified signatures requesting the recall of Allan, 4,929 for Faiella, 4,909 for Castinetti and 4,859 for Dever. Selectman Debra Panetta cast the lone vote in favor of Crabtree and was not included in the recall.
