BOYS HOCKEY
St. John?s Prep 4, Framingham 0
Zach Laramie made 16 saves for St. John’s (4-1) which got second-period tallies from Anthony Quartieri and Josh Cole in its victory over the visiting Flyers at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington.
Billy Falter and Tyler Scearbo (from Nick Latham) added goals in the first and third frames, respectively, for the Eagles, who got multi-point efforts from Kyle Lynch and Kyle Hentosh.
Somerville 5, Revere 1
It was much tighter than the final score indicates, but Revere fell to the Somerville Highlanders, 5-1, in Somerville. Revere coach Joe Ciccarello was pleased with his squads? defense, holding Somerville?s top line to minimal offense.
The sequence that buried the Patriots occurred in the second period. Revere was assessed to have committed two penalties on the same play, giving Somerville a 5-on-3 advantage, an opportunity the Highlanders were all too happy to exploit, burying two powerplay goals before Revere had the chance to bring it to even strength. Revere got a goal from Rich Polignone, cutting its deficit to 3-1. In the third, Somerville took advantage of Revere?s desperation, scoring twice late in the contest. Despite the final margin, Ciccarello thought his team played much better than the final score, both defensively and offensively, as Revere tied Somerville in shots at 27 a piece. Revere falls to 2-3-2.
