The St. Mary?s Spartans (11-1) swept the singles? matches en route to a solid 4-1 win at home over Arlington Catholic. Brady Ryan and Matt McManus won the first two singles? matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0, while Patrick Morin-Plante took the third singles match, 6-3, 6-1.
The Spartans also grabbed a doubles? win from the team of Noah Camelo and Conor Foley, 6-0, 6-0.
?This was a very clean win for us,” said St. Mary?s coach Brian Carlson. “All of our guys played well today, I?m very happy.”
Gloucester 3, Lynn Classical 2
Lynn Classical (5-6) came up just short on the road, despite a great effort from singles? player Calvin Cheung. After dropping the first set, 6-1, and falling behind, 4-1, in the second set, Cheung battled all the way back to take the match, 1-6, 7-6, 6-1.
?It was the best match I?ve ever seen him play,” said Classical coach Chris Hayward.
The other win came from Moses Ba in third singles. He also had to battled back from being a set down. After dropping the first set, 6-1, he rattled off two straight wins for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory.
?I was really pleased with everyone?s effort today,” Hayward said. “The guys have really been playing well lately.”
Marblehead 5, Beverly 0
The Magicians (6-4, 6-0) remained undefeated in Northeastern Conference. Dimitri Vlassov battled back after dropping the first set to win the first singles? match, 4-6, 7-5, 10-6. Griffin Butterfield grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 win in second singles, while Felix Livtak got a win in his varsity singles? debut, 6-0, 6-1.
The doubles? pairs of Michael Forte and Justin Faia and Jake Driscoll and Sam Orenstein each won their matches, 6-0, 6-0.
Swampscott 4, Revere 1
Swampscott (4-5) won two singles? matches and two doubles? matches to beat Revere. Matt Jacobs won the first singles? match, 6-0, 6-0, and Ian Crimmins took the second match, 6-1, 6-0. In doubles, the team of Sam Mayblyum and San Popovskiy won the first match, 6-1, 6-1. The second doubles? match was won by the team of Tyler Gateman and Will Fuller, 6-1, 6-2.
Pentucket 4, Lynnfield 1
Lynnfield (0-7) got a win in doubles? play from Ethan Forrest and Danny Bronshvayg, 6-2, 6-2.
Lowell Catholic 4, Bishop Fenwick 1
The doubles team of Jack Palmachuk and Wil Bethune grabbed a 6-3, 6-3 win for the Crusaders (1-7).
Boston College High 4, St. John?s 1
