Lynn Classical once again demonstrated its stellar play, beating Danvers, 4-1, in Monday.
?Danvers is always such a good team,” Classical coach Erica Richard said. “But we are playing pretty well right now.”
The Rams (7-2, 6-2 Northeastern Conference/North) carried a 4-0 lead into the top of the seventh. But Danvers, (6-3, 4-3 NEC/South), with one run in, loaded the bases. A superb running catch by the Rams’ Madison Angelli prevented further damage by the Falcons.
Ivy Martin earned the win with a complete game, giving up one run on eight hits with three strikeouts.
?Our defense was really solid behind Ivy,” Richard said.
Gloucester 3, English 2
It was a heartbreaker loss for the Bulldogs (0-10) as Shanna Zeramby held Gloucester (3-5) to two hits and no earned runs. Three English errors led to all Gloucester?s runs.
?Shanna threw very well,” English coach Jack Bartlett said. “It came down to us making a couple of critical mistakes that hurt us.”
Sarah Tobin had two of English?s four hits. Rachel Calnan and Sam Holey had the others.
Game 1: St. Mary?s 19, Matignon 0 (5 innings)
Game 2: St. Mary?s 16, Matignon 3 (5 innings)
The Spartans (9-1) swept the doubleheader. In the opener, Michaela Hamill hit a grand slam while Cassandra LaFauci went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Mia Nowicki struck out nine, allowing two hits.
In the second game, Victoria DiCenzo went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and four RBIs. Nowicki also had a home run and three RBIs. Hamill and Frankie Simon split the game on the mound.
Lynn Tech 24, Chelsea 23
The Tigers (1-6) trailed 13-3 through three innings but roared back for a walk-off win. Carmen Pascal led the charge, going 5-for-6 with a home run and five RBIs. Meagan LeBlanc was 3-for-4 with four runs and four RBIs.
Revere 15, Winthrop 3 (6 innings)
Senior captain Kristina Stella went 4-for-5 with five RBIs for the Patriots (7-2, 7-1 NEC/North). Sabrina Palermo went five innings, giving up five hits with eight strikeouts.
Swampscott 7, Peabody 6 (8 innings)
Sam Rizzo?s two-out, two-strike single in the bottom of the eighth scored Alanna Burke with the winning run for Swampscott (7-4, 7-2 NEC/South).
?That was a big game for us to win against one of the toughest pitchers (Peabody?s Shelbi Wilson) in the league,” Swampscott coach Frank Kowalski said.
The teams swapped the lead three times with Peabody tying the game in the top of the seventh to force extra innings.
Wilson allowed two earned runs with seven strikeouts while going 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Dom Delbene and Kayla Santos added three hits each for Peabody.Marblehead 6, Salem 1
The Magicians (8-2, 6-2 NEC/South) got another solid performance from freshman pitcher Madi Ernst, who struck out nine and walked none. Montana Joyce was 3-for-3 with one RBI while Sam Treff had two hits and two RBIs and Emily Trasher added two hits and one RBI.
Cardinal Spellman 9, Bishop Fenwick 6
Mikayla Porcaro was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Jennie Nassar added two hits, two runs scored and an RBI for the Crusaders (7-4).
Lynnfield 14, East Boston 1 (6 innings)
Annika Han led the Pioneers (9-2) offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.
Abby Weaver and Rachel Badger had three hits apiece while Olivia DeLuca, Olivia Keane and Marina McMahon each had two. Keane got the win on the mound, striking out 10 and scattering three hits.
Beverly 10, Saugus 9
Corie Coults? triple scored Marlee Hamor in the bottom of the sixth to break a 9-9 tie as the Panthers (5-3, 4-4 NEC/North) beat the Sachems (3-6, 3-5 NEC/South).Ally Cabral was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Olivia George also drove in two runs for Beverly.
