LYNN – Last week, the East Lynn Little League felt horribly victimized when vandals pried open the garage door to the concession stand and stole some supplies, and in general did extensive damage to the place. This week, things definitely started looking up.For one thing, Raw Art Works began painting the outside of the structure, which the league decided to go forward with despite the spectre of the recent vandalism. And the Wyoma Square branch of the East Boston Savings Bank heard about the league?s situation and donated $1,000 toward repairing the stand. It all started last week when league vice president Kevin Mannion arrived to do his daily field maintenance. He noticed that the grate over the entrance to door was open. When he went to investigate, he found the door unlocked and the stand in disarray.?I was speechless,” said league secretary Brandy Rodriguez.Independent from the break-in, RAW had arranged with the league to paint the outside of the stand.?And they?ve been great,” Rodriguez said. “These guys have come up with their own designs. They came up with a few things, and we picked out something we liked – something we thought would fit in the best. They?ve been here all week, and still have some more to do before it?s finished.?These are great kids,” she said. “They?re all high-school aged. We are so impressed with them.”The league was undeterred after the vandalism.?No,” Rodriguez said, “we?re not going to change the plans of having it painted. We?re not going to let them (the vandals) stop us.”As to who might have vandalized the stand, Rodriguez does not know.?It didn?t seem as if there was forced entry,” she said. “So it?s either someone had a key, or, somehow, it was left open.”The bank stepped in after hearing about the league?s situation.?It was so nice that they did that,” Rodriguez said. “The people who presented the check (bank representatives Janis Reardon and Andrea Torres) said the best part of their job was to give back like this.?It?s amazing to see how a community can come together and give back.”
