Assaults
A report of a past assault on the playground at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday on Maple Street. A caller reported that while his son was at school, he was playing basketball with other kids when he “accidentally pushed another kid over” and one of the other boys on the court “came to the fallen kid’s defense and out of frustration,” his son pushed the boy aside. He said at that point, the other boy pushed his son to the ground and began to punch him in the head while he was on the ground. He said his wife, who works at the school, was able to break the fight up, but was concerned about the situation. He said the school was aware of the incident.
Complaints
A report of a grandparent scam call at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday on Preston Beach Road. A caller reported he received a scam call telling him that his grandson was involved in a car accident and they needed $2,500. The caller contacted his daughter and son-in-law, who reassured him that his grandson was fine and had not been in an accident, but he was not convinced. Police told him that it was a scam.
A caller reported noise from a ballgame at the park at 9:23 p.m. Wednesday on Green Street, but felt the season should be over. Police told the group to wrap it up around 10 p.m. and told them about the noise complaint.
