Ellen Latham of Lynn is a finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest honor bestowed by the federal government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science teaching.
The award recognizes teachers who develop and implement a high-quality instructional program that is informed by content knowledge and enhances student learning. Latham, the daughter of Lynn Superintendent of Schools Dr. Catherine C. Latham, teaches at the John D. O’Bryant School of Math and Science in Boston. She is one of four Massachusetts finalists at the high school level.
