After losing back-to-back games, the Tech football team got back on the right track with a 43-15 win at Georgetown Friday night.
Georgetown scored the first points of the night after a safety and a Hunter Lane touchdown, giving the Royals a 9-0 early lead.
That’s when Tech woke up and found its footing, finishing the game on a 43-6 run for its fourth win of the season.
Tech’s defense forced four turnovers, two fumbles and two interceptions. Emerson Ramirez recorded 12 tackles and provided the defensive highlight of the night with an 87-yard interception return for a touchdown. Ramirez scored the last offensive touchdown of the game on a 9-yard rush.
“He was all over the field today,” Tech coach James Runner said. “It was open field tackle after open field tackle. He’s one of the best defensive players of the state.”
Giuliani Daniells ran the ball 26 times for 147 yards.
“Once we broke the first level, Giuliani was the scat-back for us,” Runner said. “Giuliani gave us the look we needed this week. We wanted to show we have tons of speed. That was big for us.”
David Barrios completed two passes for 52 yards, including a key 39-yard pass to Haidar Bdaiwi. Barrios also caught an interception and rushed for 62 yards on nine carries.
Chance Buono punched in a pair of two-point conversions.
The Tigers (4-2) host Chelsea next Saturday night (7).
“I think the biggest thing for us is it was a team win. Everybody played very well. I have to give kudos to Edwin Gonzalez, who stepped in for Elvin at cornerback and played extremely tough. He played with tenacity tonight. I’m very proud to be back on the winning side. We have Chelsea next week for our final regular season game. We’re excited. We’ll get back to work to try and finish the regular season on a winning record.”
