The Northeastern Conference swimming and diving all-stars/awards were announced and there were plenty of locals who earned honors for their stellar efforts this winter.
The girls all-conference team includes Marblehead’s Brooke Wager, Amanda Wager, Talia Orenstein and Emily Swearingen (200 medley relay); Beverly’s Sofia Blomqvist (200 freestyle); Swampscott’s Elizabeth Dokina (200 individual medley); Revere’s Lelia Cesic (50 yard freestyle); English’s Hannah Trahant (diving); Peabody’s Kristen Currie (100 butterfly); Gloucester’s Caroline McKay (100 freestyle); Beverly’s Hannah Perkins (500 freestyle); Swampscott’s Judy Dicker, Lola Muntiu and Elizabeth Dokina (200 freestyle relay); Malden’s Chloe Acombi (100 backstroke); Marblehead’s Amanda Wager (100 breaststroke); Beverly’s Grace Athanas, Sofia Blomqvist, Hannah McCarthy and Hannah Perkins (400 freestyle relay); Classical’s Carly Mendonca.
The boys all-conference team includes Malden’s David Lombardi, Toni Giech, Kevin Ochoa and Haoxi Wang (200 medley relay); Swampscott’s Matthew Brown (200 freestyle); Malden’s David Lombardi (200 individual meley); Marblehead’s Brian Coleman (50 yard freestyle); Danvers’ Jack O’Neill (diving); Malden’s Kevin Ochoa (100 butterfly); Beverly’s Gavin Gleason (100 freestyle); Marblehead’s Theo Chemel (500 freestyle); Revere’s Ahston Hoang, William Arias and Andrey Carvalhis (200 freestyle relay); Danvers’ Jared Casey (100 backstroke); Gloucester’s Sam Groleau (100 breaststroke); Marblehead’s Theo Chemel, Brian Coleman, Lucas Perez and Nate Pulido (400 freestyle relay); Peabody’s William Connolly.
Marblehead’s Wager was named the NEC Female Swimmer of the Year, while Danvers’ Casey was named Male Swimmer of the Year. English’s Trahant and Danvers’ O’Neill were named the female and male divers of the year, respectively. Danvers’ Meghan Beaulieu was named coach of the year. Salem and Peabody earned the Peter Sawin Sportsmanship Awards.
The North all-stars include Marblehead’s Carter Murray, Morgan Taylor, Wilson Lloyd; Beverly’s Sierra Sadoski, Kevin Pichardo-Cedillo; Danvers’ Ethan McGrath, Raphael Hicaro; Malden’s Olivia Forestier, Joanne Ho; Swampscott’s Paul Flacke; Gloucester’s Cecilia Adelfio; Salem’s Billy Beauregard.
The South all-stars include Peabody’s Anthony Minichillo, Isabella Forte, Stephanie McLean; Medford’s Connor MacFarlane, Shawna MacNeil; Revere’s Isabella Veraldi, Reked Caushaj; English’s Mary Lawlor, Caroline Zuffante; Somerville’s Timothy Labounko; Classical’s Jacob Lang.
