National Pet Day is coming up — April 11 — and it’s a special day for pampering these precious family members. Of course, celebrities like Lisa Vanderpump and husband Ken Todd, of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” are known for providing their Pomeranian, Giggy, with a glamorous wardrobe. The Vanderpumps spoil their furry friend with custom-made stylish outfits. Giggy even has his own walk-in-closet. No need to be jealous: Your pet can live the Hollywood lifestyle, too.
Wardrobe
If you look stylish, your pet should reflect your style. With toy size dogs and cats, the options are limitless. Start with the basics; coordinate your pet’s wardrobe by defining your style, color theme and accessories. Build your wardrobe with fashionable pieces, like edgy moto faux pink leather jacket, spring trench jacket, skinny jeans, denim jacket, plastic jacket, shirt/sweater and dress, etc. Keep Fluffy or Fido swagged out in edgy fashion. Prance your pet in style!
Accessories
The Vanderpumps carry their fashionable Pomeranian like a glorified accessory. Stroll around with your baby clothed in a designer stroller and travel tote bag with luxe over-the-top accessories: pearl or “Bling” faux diamond collar or a studded spike collar, neon booties and harness with glittery bracelet leash. But keep it simple: traditional bow or bandana. One hopes your pup or kitty will be well aware that they are fashionable.
At Linda’s Critter Corral, 73 Bessom St., Lynn, owner Kathy Murray and her professional stylist will treat your baby with special care. If you want your furry pal to go glam with fun colorful accessories, the stylist at Linda’s will groom your pet with a creative hair design featuring feather extensions. To spark up a convo at the dog park, go BOLD — consider pet friendly washable hair dye color in pale yellow, blue, lavender or pink. To put the final touches on the look; get a doggy peticure. When I was a child, we had a 100-pound mutt, Nahsha, who was extremely loyal, protective and playful. This macho boy sat through many dog days of getting furry paws painted in red nail polish. He was confident and tough enough to embrace the unexpected.
Spa
Linda’s Critter Corral also offers specialized spa treatments and cut & blow dry services. The Hydro Spa Treatment is a bathing system that intensifies a deep, full body massage that helps improve your good girl’s circulation, reduces stress using lavender and chamomile aromatherapy for calming effect, moisturizes the skin and coat to help with shedding, a paw massage with shea butter for dry cracked pads. A lavender body spritz completes the treatment. Feeling good on the inside is just as important as looking good on the outside.
Resort
Jeff Gaudet, principal owner of Tailor Made Dog Care, 655 Summer St., Lynn, is new to the pet business. Gaudet grew up in Nahant and graduated from Lynn Classical in 1984. Gaudet moved to Lynn in 1993. He and his wife have two children … and three beloved pups.
“After 25 years in sales and professional staffing I decided to open Tailor Made Dog Care. I had dogs since I was a little boy.” His family includes 14-year-old Yorkshire terriers, Lucy and Dobby, and 4-year-old mixed mutt Brady.
“The name Tailor Made stems from the fact that we provide many services at multiple price points. We are excited about the spacious 3,000-square-foot, brand new facility with outdoor play area and direct access to hiking trails along Lynn’s new community path,” said Gaudet.
He said at Tailor Made dogs are never kennelled; they roam freely and can frolic, watch TV while relaxing on couches, itch their backs on faux grass area carpets, and relax in the cozy setting. Gaudet said they will “tailor” the level of service for your beloved paw-fect friend.
