SAUGUS — Saugus Police responded to a report of a turkey flying into a home Tuesday afternoon. 

According to interim chief Ronald Giorgetti, police received a 911 call at 3:15 p.m. from a resident who indicated the bird crashed through a closed second-story bedroom window in the caller’s home on Reynolds Drive. The resident reported the bird was still trapped inside the home at the time of the call. 

Responding officers found the animal badly injured among glass strewn about the room. 

A message from police stated that the bird’s injuries were such that it had to be euthanized. No human injuries were reported. 

The homeowner was given a police report number for property insurance, and the turkey’s remains were taken to the Saugus Police Station for proper handling.
