The Lynn English volleyball team finally put it all together and dominated its first win of the year, a 3-0 victory over Everett at Paul F. Cavanagh Gymnasium Wednesday. The Bulldogs won by lopsided set scores of 25-8 and 25-2 before finishing it off in a nail-biting 28-26 third set.
“All of my players played well,” English coach Mike Haddad said. “We finally found the momentum we need in the first set and kept building on it all the way to the win. This was by far the best game we’ve played so far.”
Diamond Bogues was great at the service line with four aces, including a game-winning ace in the final set. Veronica Moeun had 34 positive serves and four aces, including a string of 21 straight serves to carry English to a victory. Moeun also had two kills. Merily Folestal, who was honored for Senior Night, had three aces, nine kills and four blocks while DJ Chim also played a great game.
“This is what I’ve been waiting for from this group,” Haddad said. “They finally realized their potential I saw from day one.”
