The Bishop Fenwick baseball team had a busy weekend, splitting a pair of Catholic Central League games against a pair of quality opponents. After falling to Bishop Stang 8-2 on Saturday, the Crusaders followed it up with a key 8-1 win over a strong Bishop Feehan team on Sunday.
The star of Sunday’s game was Christian Loescher, who earned the win on the mound after tossing 6 1/3 innings and allowing just one run on one hit with two strikeouts. He also contributed heavily at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Also performing well in Sunday’s win were Scott Emerson (2-for-2, two RBI), Dan Reddick (1-for-3, two RBI) and Alex Gonzalez (3-for-3, three runs scored).
On Saturday, Gonzalez paced the offense after going 1-for-4 with two RBI. Anthony Marino took the loss on the mound after pitching 4 1/3 innings and five runs (one earned) on four hits with five strikeouts.
Fenwick (6-4) has nearly a full week off before traveling to Winthrop for a doubleheader on Saturday (10 and 2).
SOFTBALL
Bishop Feehan 8, St. Mary’s 1
St. Mary’s (8-2) plays on the road at St. Joseph’s Prep Monday afternoon (3).
BOYS LACROSSE
Bishop Feehan 12, St. Mary’s 10
The Spartans trailed by as many as six goals at one point in the game, eventually battling back to take a 10-9 lead. But Feehan was able to notch the final three goals, earning the win at Manning Field.
Zach Barden led the way with four goals and one assist, while Harrison Kinne and Jackson Field each had one goal and two assists. Brady Ayles had one goal and one assist, while Seamus Foley, Maxwell Field and Jack Silva each scored one goal. Goalie Daniel Domeniconi made 14 saves in the loss.

Liam Hill continued his strong season for the Crusaders, leading the offensive attack with three goals. Manny Alvarez-Segee added two goals and one assist, while Anthony Sasso had one goal and three assists. Connor Sturnolio and Aiden Anthony each added one goal and one assist, while Brady McClung scored one goal.
Fenwick (3-3) hosts rival St. Mary’s Monday afternoon (3).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Marblehead 10, Peabody 5
The Magicians notched a marquee win under the lights at Piper Field Saturday night, getting back above .500 with a Northeastern Conference victory.
Fehr Gillett had a big game for the Magicians with three goals, while Maddie Erskine contributed two goals and two assists. Sydney Langton had two goals and one assist, Molly Forbes scored two goals and Gigi Lombardi scored one goal. Hadley Wales and Mae Colwell added one assist each, while goalie Elizabeth Driscoll shut the door on Peabody with 13 saves.
Marblehead (3-2) travels to Beverly Monday afternoon (4).
The Tanners got two goals from Hailee Lomasney in the loss, while Amber Kiricoples, Hailey Baker and McKayla Fisher each scored one goal. Goalie Olivia Lavalle had 10 saves.
Peabody (4-3) hosts Swampscott Tuesday afternoon (4).
Bishop Fenwick 19, Bishop Stang 7
Brynn Bertucci had a massive game for the Crusaders, totaling nine points after scoring seven goals with two assists. Hanna Goodreau added five goals and two assists in the win, while Lucy O’Flynn and Ella Morgan each scored two goals. Elani Gikas, Paige Littlehale, Amy Hatfield and Eve Watson all played well defensively.
Fenwick (6-1) is now off until June 1, when it will travel to St. Joseph’s Prep.
