Thanks to an RBI single from Mike Faragi in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bishop Fenwick baseball team picked up its first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Pentucket Thursday afternoon.
Anthony Marino added a single and an RBI in the win, while Gianni Mercurio, Costa Beechin, Chris Faraca, Andrew McKenzie and Dan Reddick each had one hit. Nick Villano drew a walk and scored a run.
On the mound, Anthony Herbert picked up the win after tossing three hitless innings of relief with three strikeouts. Mike Geissler got the start and went six innings, allowing one run on four hits with 11 strikeouts.
Bishop Fenwick (1-5) plays on the road at Arlington Catholic Wednesday (3:30).
BASEBALL
Winthrop 6, Salem 4
Matt DeCarney and Zach Bogusz each went 1-for-2 with one RBI in the victory, while Joe Hayes went 0-for-2 with one RBI.
On the mound, Decarney picked up the win in his first career varsity start after tossing six innings and allowing four runs on four hits with seven strikeouts.
Winthrop (4-1) hosts Boston English Monday morning (11).
For Salem, Sebastian Cruz (1-for-3), Radhlen Pena (1-for-2) and Gio Olivera (0-for-3) each had one RBI. Nick Balesta had a solid day on the mound, tossing 4 1/3 innings and allowing six runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

Peabody 13, Beverly 1
Isabel Bettencourt hit a three-run home run, Logan Lomasney hit a two-run home run and Abby Bettencourt once again dominated in the circle as the Tanners remained undefeated in the Northeastern Conference.
Peabody (4-1) hosts Marblehead Wednesday (4).
Jamie Dupont and Nikki Erricola each went 1-for-3 in the loss for the Panthers.
Beverly ( 2-1) travels to Danvers Wednesday morning (10).
Swampscott 11, Salem 4
Jocelyn Spickard tossed a complete game and struck out 15 batters in the win, while Olivia Barletta (2-for-5, three RBI), Cece O’Connor (3-for-4, three RBI) and Emma Bragan (2-for-3, two RBI) led the Big Blue offense.
Swampscott (3-1) plays on the road at Masconomet Wednesday (10).
Mystic Valley 18, Lynn Tech 3
Zoe Wilson (3-for-4) and Ariella Long (2-for-4) played well in the loss for the Tigers.
Lynn Tech (1-3) is now off until April 26, when the Tigers will face Mystic Valley once again.

Nick Costa led the way with three goals and two assists for the Jets, while Steven Defilippo notched three goals and one assist. Stevan Downey scored three goals, while Ethan Wilson, Jordan Em, Devin Copithorne and John Crowley each scored one goal.

Jimmy Ayers had three goals and two assists to lead the offense, while Luke Kelly scored three goals and Harlan Graber added two goals and one assist. Noah Brown and Rowan Mondello each scored two goals, while Nate Jones and Charlie Wilmot each had one goal and one assist. Jake Vana, Chris Esposito and Andrew Klein each scored one goal, while Tommy Sarni had four assists and Lucas Verrier had one assist. Goalies Teddy Cullinane (five saves) and Gavin Kornitsky (seven saves) combined for the win in net.
St. John’s Prep (5-0) plays under the lights against Acton-Boxborough Saturday night (7:30).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Peabody 14, Swampscott 2
Behind a massive five-goal, five-assist performance from McKayla Fisher, the Tanners picked up the big win at Coley Lee Field.
Brooke Lomasney added three goals and three assists, while McKenna Forni and Ally Bettencourt each had two goals and two assists. Katie Amico did a great job on the draw, while goalies Lauren Leggett and Caitlin Snow split the game in net to earn the win.
Peabody (2-1) has a full week off before traveling to Salem Thursday (4).
Swampscott (2-1) hosts Danvers Tuesday (4).

Lucy Wales led the way with five goals and three assists, while Hadley Wales wasn’t far behind with three goals and one assist. Sydney Langton added three goals, while Ramona Gillett had two goals and two assists, Gigi Lombardi had two goals and one assist, Isabelle Ferrante had one goal and two assists and Molly Cronin had one goal and one assist. Goalie Katie Santeusanio made eight saves to pick up the win in net.

Singles wins for the Magicians came from Mika Garber (6-0, 6-0), Aidan Ryan (6-2, 6-2) and Matthew Sherf (6-0, 6-0). In doubles play, the team of Jack Donovan and Dwight Foster won the first match (6-0, 6-0) and the team of Kipp Schauder and Jack Fobert won the second match (6-0, 6-0).

Doubles play made the difference for the Magicians Thursday, with the teams of Ella Kramer-Leah Schauer (6-0, 6-1) and Aoife Breshnahan-Andrea Potvin (6-1, 6-0) both picking up wins. The Magicians also got a singles win from Charly Cooper (6-1, 6-2).

The lone win for the Big Blue came from Veronika Isagulyan in first singles (7-6, 6-1).

Lynn Tech 86, Innovation 50
Charles Long was a triple-winner for the Tigers after taking first in the 100-meter, the 200 and the long jump. Franklin Rodriguez picked up wins in the 800 and the one-mile, while Cesar Reyes won the high jump, Jeph Onyighrchi won the 100 hurdles and Kyle Lindquist won the javelin. The Tigers also swept the relays, with the team of David, Ryan Mendez, Randy Martinez and Andrew Pao winning the 4×100 relay and the team of Brian Zarate, Bryton Osgood, Gregory Krochmal and Remy Chiep winning the 4×400 relay.
Lynn Tech (2-0) is now off until April 28, when it will run against Nashoba.

Winners for the Rams were Ryan Doll in the long jump, Kenaalii Cohen in the 400 hurdles and Kymani Phipps in the 110 hurdles.

Stephen Srey was a double-winner after taking the shot put and the discus, while the Bulldogs also got a win from Ernie Panais in the 100.

Maria Groscos and Miyoka Johnson were both double-winners, with Groscos taking the 800 and the javelin and Johnson winning the 200 and the long jump. Other winners for the Tigers were Nyari Lane-Benjamin in the 400 hurdles, Skyla McGough in the high jump, Angelina Castillo in the two-mile, Amaya Williams in the 100 and Briana Melo in the one-mile. The relay teams also picked up wins, with the team of Lane-Benjamin, McGough, Johnson and Williams winning the 4×100 relay and the team of Groscos, Melo, Kasandra Pena and Rayne Hawthorne winning the 4×400 relay.
Lynn Tech (2-0) is now off until April 28, when it will run against Nashoba.
Chelsea 77, Lynn Classical 50
Delaney Dana won both the 100 and the 200, while the Rams also got wins from Mia Kebreau in the triple jump and Olivia Waterman in the two-mile.

Diamond Bogues won both the shot put and the javelin to lead the way for English, while Dany Diroche won the 400 hurdles, and the 100 hurdles. Other winners for the Bulldogs were Kendra Malcolm in the 100, Aida Bellal in the 400 and Andrea Coronado in the 800.
