LYNN — Oscar Juarez, a junior varsity women’s soccer coach at Lynn Classical High School, was arrested Monday on felony charges for a series of sex-related crimes in 2022, according to Glen Johnson, a spokesperson for Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office.
Juarez, 38, of Saugus, is charged with indecent assault and battery of a person older than 14 years old, distributing pornographic material, and reckless endangerment of a child.
Juarez is accused of groping a juvenile player. He is also accused of sending unsolicited pornographic images of himself to a former player and soliciting that student and a juvenile to have a sexual relationship with him.
Juarez was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court and pled not guilty. He was ordered held in the Middleton House of Correction on $10,000 cash bail, according to Johnson.
Juarez is due in court Sept. 7 for a pretrial conference.
“The Lynn Public Schools was notified by the Lynn Police Department on Aug. 7 that a former LPS coach, an employee at will from Classical, has been charged with multiple criminal counts,” LPS Compliance Officer Charlie Gallo wrote in a statement. “Students’ safety, in school and including in LPS sports, is a top concern.”
Gallo added that the district “acted immediately” as charges developed.
“The individual in question was notified that there was to be no contact with any student in the LPS student community,” he wrote. “Because there will be a personnel investigation, the Lynn Public Schools cannot share any further details.
