LYNNFIELD — A gas main break on Smith Farm Trail off Lowell Street was reported Tuesday afternoon. The town’s Fire Department, Water District, and Police Department were present at the scene.

According to a National Grid worker who was near the scene for unrelated reasons, a contractor was working and hit a line, resulting in a broken service line.

Lynnfield Fire Deputy Chief James Wallace said that there were no hazards as a result of the break.
