To the editor:
Swampscott is at a critical juncture in its history. Decisions must be made swiftly concerning multi-family housing developments to meet state law, repairing damage done to union relations, eradicating the town’s thinly veiled “boys’ club” of surreptitious governing, and cleaning the state’s most filthy beach, among other pressing issues. Danielle Leonard is the person who I believe is most capable of making these decisions with pragmatism, logic, transparency, and common sense.
Danielle has significant experience working WITH others, not against them, including as an administrator for both the Swampscott and Lynnfield Public School systems, and currently, as a benefits/welfare consultant at Harvard University.
Danielle has served Swampscott on several committees, including the Recreation and Parent Council Advisory committees. Her dedication to serving the community is reflected in her town involvement, as well as her tenacity to do right by her fellow citizens. What impressed me most about Danielle was her delivery at the Feb. 12 Select Board meeting. She spoke boldly and honestly to the Select Board in a civilized and compassionate manner, and her presentation was so moving that others in the audience not only reaffirmed what she said, they even gave up their speaking time to her.
We need the Select Board to make decisions that result in the best outcome for all of Swampscott, not for individual board members’ personal satisfaction.
I strongly urge you to vote FOR Danielle Leonard, to help revive Swampscott and restore its former reputation as a lovely town!
