Lynn Classical’s boys tennis team traveled more than 50 miles to face Whitinsville Christian Wednesday evening. Despite a strong effort in an eight-win season, the Division 3 Preliminary Round was it for the Rams.
The No. 29 hosts took care of the No. 36 Rams, 5-0, to pick up their 11th win of the spring. WCS advanced to the Round of 32 to face No. 4 Apponequet Regional with the date and time to be determined.
In third singles, Classical’s Andy Ly lost, 0-6, in the first set, but made adjustments to his game and lost narrowly in the second set, 4-6.
Despite the loss, Classical coach Chris Hayward couldn’t have been more proud of his players.
“It was a great group of kids. They were sportsmen on and off the court,” he said. “They made Classical proud.”
