LYNN — The General Electric (GE) Employees Good Neighbor Fund (GNF) donated a check of $35,000 to The Salvation Army in Lynn on Wednesday.
The check ceremony took place in the gymnasium at The Salvation Army Lynn Corps Community Center. The gym was filled with a variety of gifts for boys and girls of all ages, in preparation for The Salvation Army and Item Santa’s Christmas gift distribution, which will start next week.
Capt. Enmanuel Villegas, a pastor and corps officer for The Salvation Army, accepted the check from GE. GE volunteer Bob Levine, GNF Chair Harry Nahatis, and GE Communications Leader Alexis Kievning presented the check to Villegas.
According to Villegas, 85% of the GE donation will be going to Item Santa, while the rest will be going toward The Salvation Army’s social services.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Good Neighbor Fund from GE Aerospace for their generous donation. This contribution will have a significant impact on our community by supporting our various social services, especially during the holiday season,” Villegas said.
“We would also like to thank the members of the Good Neighbor Fund board for placing their trust in us and believing in our mission to serve anyone who is in need throughout the Greater Lynn area. We look forward to using this fund to continue serving everyone in our community year-round,” he added.
