You know what I’ve been thinking? I rarely pick two, but with a name like Pizza Lovers, it’s only deserving.
The Lynn Parks and Recreation Summer Evening Basketball League held its championship games, with East Lynn’s Pizza Lovers and West Lynn’s Councilor Jay Walsh capturing middle and high school titles, respectively.
Dominic Castaldo (16 points) was red-hot for the Pizza Lovers, who also received contributions from Julius Guillen, Kencey Tavarez, and Samuel Ebegbue.
In high school action, Logan Cushna led his team’s charge with a game-high 21 points (12 in the first half), while Taeveon Neubert netted 13.
Wins are great, but connecting with others in the community is the ultimate victory, if you ask Director Geanni Byrd.
“I really enjoy it,” Byrd said. “One of the biggest pleasures that comes from it is giving kids a safe place to play basketball and keeping them out of trouble. I love seeing kids happy and connecting with others in the community.”
