You know what I’ve been thinking? I’m not sure what’s more impressive: the talent or consistency.
It was quite the week for St. Mary’s girls soccer star Sophie Skabeikis, who scored 10 goals – yes, 10 – during a three-game week. Better yet, the Spartans won all three games and two were played in enemy territory.
The team got things started with a road win against Cardinal Spellman. All Skabeikis did was score twice to become the program’s all-time leading scorer (103 goals).
From there, the future University of Massachusetts Minutewoman scored four goals against Archbishop Willams and another four against Arlington Catholic.
Across the three-game stretch, St. Mary’s outscored opponents, 13-3, with Skabeikis scoring 10 of 13 goals.
The Spartans, helmed by second-year coach Patrick Curran and led by Skabeikis, sport a record of 7-3-2.
Next up for St. Mary’s is another dance with Spellman. That one’s set for Monday in Lynn at 4 p.m.
Sophie, good week.
