You know what I’ve been thinking? She was arguably the best player on Swampscott’s girls basketball team as a freshman, and now, she’s back for round two.
Sophomore star Anna Kanders has been on a tear through two games. Better yet, the Big Blue are 2-0 and outscoring opponents 111-67.
In game one, Swampscott clipped Gloucester 58-40 behind Kanders’ 20 points and eight assists. Four nights later, she netted 25 points with another eight assists en route to a 53-27 road win against Winthrop.
That’s 22.5 points and eight assists per game for the right-hander, who was All-Northeastern Conference last season and a Daily Item All-Star. She netted 404 total points as a freshman.
Next up for the Big Blue is Friday’s home game against Peabody beginning at 6:30 p.m. Let’s see what Kanders has in store against the Tanners, who also sport a 2-0 record.
Anna, good week.
