LYNN — School Committee member Lorraine Gately was unanimously elected as the School Committee’s vice chair. She will join Mayor Jared Nicholson, who serves as chair, in leading the Committee.
A motion to elect Gately was made by Committee member Lenny Peña and was seconded by Committee member Brian Castellanos.
The School Committee held its first special meeting following the City’s Inauguration Ceremony, where members of the Committee and Nicholson were officially sworn in by District Court Judge Lisa Core.
Castellanos said the Committee is “lucky to have Lorraine (Gately) as vice chair,” adding that she is “someone who’s dedicated her life and service to the public schools… (and) has many years of experience.”
