Lynn Classical’s girls basketball team (1-2) entered the win column with a 55-46 road victory against Malden Tuesday evening. Divine Egbuta netted 17 points, followed by Aliyah Alvarado’s 12.
“We opened the game with a 16-0 run and led 22-6 after one,” said Classical coach Tom Sawyer. “To Malden’s credit, they came back into the game, but we made enough plays to get the win.”

Lynnfield (19 assists) defended home court with a double-digit win against Georgetown. Hayden Valiton (career-high 25 points), Chloe Grieves (14 points, 19 rebounds), and Maeve Wertz (13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals) led the charge.
Coach Sue Breen and the Pioneers upped their record to 5-2 ahead of Friday’s road game against Hamilton-Wenham at 6:30.
“This was a great game for our team to work on composure,” she said. “Georgetown was trapping all over the place, so we had to be patient and work the ball around in order to find the open player. We got meaningful contributions from multiple players.”
