Zosia VanMeter officially announced her candidacy for the Massachusetts House of Representatives, eager to bring her passion for community advocacy and public service, along with her knowledge of government administration, to the State House.
“I am running because I believe every resident deserves a voice in shaping policies that impact their daily lives. My goal is to ensure transparency, accountability, and equitable access to resources for all communities in the 9th Essex District,” VanMeter said.
VanMeter is a lifelong North Shore resident who has dedicated her career to improving systems that serve the public. She is deeply committed to fostering collaboration between government and residents to create solutions that actually work for everyone.
VanMeter currently serves as the director of the Inspectional Division for the City of Lynn, overseeing public safety and compliance initiatives. In her tenure, she has led projects to improve accessibility and develop resources that ensure inclusivity while remaining committed to data-driven decision-making and efficiency in government.
Beyond her municipal role, VanMeter founded The Athena Project Lynn, a nonprofit focused on community empowerment through education and resources. She also serves on the boards of local housing and social service organizations, advocating for affordable housing, community development, and family stability through resources and education.
With the launch of the campaign, VanMeter has stated she will start with a strong focus on connecting with the residents of the 9th district.
“I look forward to meeting and speaking with the residents, to learn more about what they love about their community and what they feel needs improvement or attention. I’m a strong believer in the path forward being built together,” she said.
VanMeter’s platform for state representative centers on:
- Public Safety: Ensuring everyone and their families feel safe in the place they call home.
- Affordable Housing: Advocating for affordable housing while being mindful of the overdevelopment of Route 1 and maintaining the character of existing neighborhoods.
- Public Schools: Championing funding and support for our children’s schools and programs.
- Transparency & Accountability: Engaging with the community and being available, bridging the gap of communication between you and local and state government.
Zosia VanMeter’s knowledge of municipal resources and government procedure, alongside her integrity and passion to support the community, make her an ideal candidate for the House of Representatives. She is prepared to bridge the gap and be the advocate that ensures the people of this district are heard and supported.
