Both the Peabody boys and girls basketball teams earned victories Monday night.
The boys team improved to 2-6 after defending home court with a 54-45 win over Salem Academy. Thad Broughton Jr. led the Tanners with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Mark Mendonca contributed across the board with seven points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Ian Salazar added 10 rebounds, while Adam Kowalczyk finished with six points.
The Lady Tanners traveled to Lincoln-Sudbury and came back with a 48-43 victory.
Olivia Gaynor paced the Tanners with 17 points and five steals. Sophia Coburn controlled the paint with eight points and seven rebounds. Aliana Ryan ran the offense with seven assists and added six points, along with five steals on the defensive end. Lizzie Bettencourt chipped in six points and 10 rebounds, while Avery Bettencourt scored six points and collected four steals.

Marblehead fell at home despite a strong performance from Greta Sachs, who recorded a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Ainsley MacDonald scored nine points, while Carys Moran added four. Tessa Andriano finished with five points and seven rebounds.

St. Mary’s came up short despite first-place finishes from Savanna Reynoso in the 200 individual medley and Luka Kukolj in the 200 breaststroke. Gabby Merchant also turned in a personal-best performance in the 500 freestyle.
