LYNN — The Lynn City Council honored longtime Lynn Community Television News Director Danielle Vittori on Tuesday evening.
Vittori, who has covered community news and events for LCTV, producing hundreds of videos, announced to the Council by email that it will be her final week, as she has taken a position at WMUR in New Hampshire.
Both the Council and Mayor Jared Nicholson spotlighted Vittori’s commitment to the community during the meeting.
“Danny, you have been an important part of everything that we do, and you’ve covered, I think, everything,” Councilor Brian Field said.
“I don’t think I can think of anybody more proactive to represent our city. You’ve caught every event… I can’t think of an event that you missed, even events that we’ve missed, you’ve been at, covering (it),” Field said.
He added, “You’re busier than any of us, and to see that you’re leaving Lynn Community Television is certainly a void that I don’t think is going to be filled easily. I know the people at WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire, have stolen somebody, and I know you’re going to do well there.
“It’s my honor, along with Council President Alinsug, Council Vice President Fred Hogan, and all our colleagues, to honor you tonight before you sneak out of state,” Field said.
Nicholson said, “We are very sad to be losing Danny, and want to recognize her great service to this community. In these roles, and trying to serve the community, you realize how important the fact that the community story gets told, and that doesn’t happen without a free press, and a free press doesn’t happen without devoted people who care about the communities that they cover and ultimately that they serve.”
Nicholson added, “Councilor Field mentioned the commitment — so much of that is just showing up, and that’s so much easier said than done. It’s a lot of events. It’s a lot of time. But there’s also you also need that, that curiosity and that openness to experience, and Danny has that in a really beautiful way, and we’re so lucky that she has shared it with us. And WMUR, you are so lucky to be receiving it.”
A round of applause then ensued as Vittori, her parents, and her wife joined them for a group photo.
Vittori’s presence will most certainly be missed, and Seth Albaum, executive director of LCTV, specifically, spoke highly of not only the range of her work, which includes everything from interviews and events to even sports, but also her approach and ability to make every person feel comfortable.
“I’d say that Danny’s incredible work ethic and professionalism, and the way she puts interview subjects at ease, is something that we’ll really miss here, and I think the whole city of Lynn will miss,” he said.
“She’s interviewed so many of our nonprofit leaders, covered so many of our local events, and has become a part of this community. So, she will be missed,” Albaum added. “We’re very excited for her in her new position, and look forward to great things as she embarks on the next chapter in her career.”
