The Lynn Classical boys basketball team hosted Chelsea on Thursday night in a matchup of the Greater Boston League’s top teams. The Rams (7-2) pulled away in the second half for a 67-46 win over Chelsea (8-2).
With time winding down in the second quarter, sophomore Davon Rucker hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Lynn Classical a 29-26 halftime lead.
The Rams took control in the third quarter, turning up the defensive pressure and dominating the offensive glass. Lynn Classical opened the half on a 13-3 run and outscored Chelsea 17-8 in the quarter to take a 46-34 lead into the fourth.
The Rams continued to pull away, holding Chelsea to 12 points in the final quarter.
Deshawn Rucker led Lynn Classical with 19 points and three steals. DJ Reynolds added 17 points and eight rebounds, while Shyheim Babb and Darren Baker scored 12 points apiece.

The Bulldogs earned a road win behind a balanced team effort, defeating Malden by nine points. Yeuri Figuereo scored 19 points, Isaac Yankee added 16 and Josiah Peralta finished with 12.

Greater Lawrence Tech 50
Lynn Tech (6-4) picked up a needed win against Greater Lawrence Tech. Giovanni Jean led the Tigers with 29 points and seven rebounds, while Andy Batista added 13 points and five rebounds.

St. Mary’s remained undefeated with a road win at Bishop Stang, improving to 10-0. John Chareas scored 24 points, Rowan Merryman added 20 and Jake Fortier netted 18.
GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lynn Classical (3-3) returned to .500 with a decisive win over Chelsea. Divine Egbuta dominated with 26 points and 21 rebounds. Jayliana Wesley scored nine points, while Jada Tejada and Evelyn Diaz added eight apiece.

The Tigers improved their record to 6-2 on the season with another emphatic win. Allison Morales continued her hot scoring, netting 22 points, four steals, and two rebounds for Lynn Tech.
Juliana Gerardo (4 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals, 2 assist) did a little bit of everything for the Tigers as she finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Teammates Elena Bishop (5 points, 6 rebounds) and Madison Sok (12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals) played well.

Peabody fell behind early and could not recover. Lizzie Bettencourt, Aliana Ryan and Avery Bettencourt played well for the Tanners, according to coach Stan McKeen.

Saugus/Peabody (12-0) stayed unbeaten with a win over Salem. Freshman Giana Caceto earned her first varsity victory. Matt Dresser rallied late, scoring a pin in the final 30 seconds. Jackson Deleidi and Mike Maraio also won their matches to remain unbeaten in dual meet competitions.

Marblehead earned a Northeastern Conference win over Masconomet.
“It was a great meet, and the kids were awesome,” coach Sue Guertin said.
Marblehead hosts Gloucester next Thursday at 7 p.m.
