BOSTON — It was an action-packed weekend of high school track and field as local athletes performed in MSTCA divisional relays.
In Division 1, St. John’s Prep was victorious with 68 points. Second-place Central Catholic totaled 37. Tyson Stroope took third in the high jump relay (6-2), while the 4x50y relay team of Ahmir Hykel, Dayvian Sullivan, Jordan Toribio, and Andrew McManmon took first in 21.27. Also winning was the 4x200m team of Hykel, McManmon, Quinten Murray, and Will Quigley (1:30.66).
Div. 2 action saw Peabody’s Kavier Lopez (6-0) win the high jump and Jake Marcotullio take 10th in shot put (42-7). Madison Holleran (34-7) won the shot put, while the boys 4x50y team of Christ Jeune, Lopez, Luke Dang, and Henry Sawyer won in 21.95.
In Div. 3, Marblehead’s Clark Roszell finished first in the high jump (6-0), while Colin Burke (5-10) and Owen Coyne (5-08) also impressed.
Charlotte Hodgkinson, Sadie Halpern, Lucy Flynn, and Marrietta O’Connell took third in the 1,600m with a time of 4:23.52. The 4,000m group of Sarah Munroe, Margaret Miller, Norah Walsh, and O’Connell snagged third with a time of 12:54.19, while Flynn, Hodgkinson, Cora Gerson, and Halpern finished fourth in the 4x50y (25.65).
St. Mary’s took part in Div. 4 and received medaling performances in the 4x50y (Lea Deronja, Sarina Guzman, Princess-Kailyn Njika, Olivia DiSessa – 26.14), 4x800m (Andrea Basta, Nina Lopes, Kelsey Kwiatek, Mia Tatis – 10:26.70), and 4x400m (Cam Dunn, DiSessa, Kwiatek, Deronja). The 4x400m group placed second with a school-record time of 4:15.65.
The boys’ 4x400m team of Will Potter, Jacobi James, Lucian Paula, and Jimmy Jennings medaled with a school-record time of 3:36.95 (5th).
Swampscott’s Benjamin White (42-3.25), Doyle Delano (41-8.75), and Mia Tringale (29-6.50) impressed in their respective shot put relays. The girls’ 1,600m team caught eyes with a top-five finish of 4:27.73.
As for Bishop Fenwick, Marianna Kay, Maeve O’Donnell, Julia Davis, and Adelaide Sweatman finished fifth in the 4,000m (13:41.71). In the 4x800m, Kay, Sweatman, Olivia Rowe, and Davis took sixth in 10:31.51.
In Div. 5, Saugus finished 20th in the boys’ 1,600m. Kaeleb Mathieu, Ryan Morreira, Pharaoh Brandenburg, and Kason Imbrogna clocked in at 4:02.52.
Lynnfield’s Brendan Reilly took eighth in the long jump (19-10.25), while the 1,600m unit of Sofia Giardina, Emma Greenleaf, Lauren Mattia, and Abby Lopez finished sixth in 4:38.25.
