St. Mary’s basketball fans had quite the Tuesday as both the boys and girls varsity teams picked up victories against Arlington Catholic.
Inside the Tony C. Gymnasium in Lynn, the boys improved to 13-1 with an 88-73 victory. Rolky Brea Arias led the offense with 23 points, followed by John Chareas (21) and Gabe Makuwa Sykes (16).
The girls, on enemy hardwood, upped their record to 13-1 with a 51-38 win. McKenna O’Connell netted 18 points (game-high), while Sky Watson orchestrated the defense.
The boys visit Bishop Fenwick (2-10) Friday at 6:30 p.m. The girls have a quick turnaround and head to Attleborough Wednesday to take on Bishop Feehan (11-2) at 5 p.m.

Despite a solid eight-point showing from Marblehead’s Cameron Weaver, the Magicians (8-4) were handled by Beverly (10-3). Jacob Klass recorded 26 points for the Panthers, who led 17-5 after one quarter and 32-14 at halftime.

One win from a Division 1 state tournament berth, Peabody (9-5) took care of business against the visiting Chieftains. The Tanners were led by Olivia Gaynor (16 points), Avery Bettencourt (9), Ava Ryan (8), and Aliana Ryan, who “did a great job running the offense,” according to coach Stan McKeen.

Marblehead (7-5) trailed after the first and second quarters, but battled back in the second half to tame the Panthers (3-11). Tessa Andriano scored 20 points and sharpshooter Nora Mahan buried five threes.
