LYNN — Through the Shannon Community Safety Initiative awards, the City of Lynn will receive $327,223.86, and local action research partner North Shore Community College will receive $33,756.
The Shannon Community Safety Initiative, named in honor of the late Sen. Charles Shannon, is in its 20th year of supporting communities across Massachusetts to address gang and youth violence through a multidisciplinary approach. Partnering with nonprofit organizations, community partners, and municipal agencies, the City of Lynn will be able to continue its efforts to decrease gang recruitment and youth violence.
“The Shannon Community Safety Initiative is a testament to the success of collaboration between local law enforcement, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to prevent violence among young people,” said State Sen. Brendan Crighton. “We’re thrilled to see the City of Lynn and North Shore Community College receive this funding that will continue to make a difference in our community.”

Under the leadership of the Lynn Police Department, this funding will support a strong collaboration among many local nonprofit organizations, schools, and community partners who are working together to prevent violence and support our young people.”
