LYNN — Seven Lynn Police Department officers were promoted during a ceremony Monday evening at City Hall, where family members, city officials, and colleagues gathered to honor years of dedication, sacrifice, and service to the community. The event served as both a professional milestone for the officers and a heartfelt moment of appreciation for the families and supporters who stood beside them throughout their careers.

“You don’t get here easily. This tremendous sacrifice on part of each of them, not only developing their career,” Chief Christopher Reddy began the ceremony, “… the process of studying, the exam, and achieving this accomplishment requires a lot of work. What we all know: We don’t do it alone.”

Reddy also acknowledged the vital support system behind each officer, highlighting the tremendous work of families and colleagues and expressing excitement for the accomplishments of the newly promoted sergeants, lieutenants, and Captain Timothy Donovan.

“I also want to take a moment to acknowledge all of you because you do make it possible for them,” Reddy said. “So thank you all very much.”

In addition to the promotions, the ceremony marked a significant transition for City Clerk Janet Rowe, who conducted her final swearing-in before retiring at the end of the month. Rowe has been involved with the City since 1999 and has served as city clerk since 2017, making the evening especially meaningful.

“We appreciate all of our officers. We understand the sacrifice that it represents to protect and serve our community,” Mayor Jared Nicholson stated, echoing sentiments shared throughout the room.

Rowe swore in Sergeants Jennifer Almonte, Brendan Slepoy, and Jeffrey Trahant; Lieutenants Jennifer Cash, Mark Nerich, and Edward Cauley; and Captain Timothy Donovan.

By the end of the ceremony, family members surrounded the officers with bouquets of flowers and embraces, filling City Hall with applause, pride, and celebration as loved ones congratulated them on their achievements.
