Marblehead/Swampscott’s co-op wrestling team competed in the second annual Sarkis Cup, held at Greater Lawrence Tech in Andover Saturday. Host Greater Lawrence was victorious.
“[It was] Our first time attending and I think we found a great event for this date for years to come,” said Marblehead/Swampscott coach Michael Stamison. “Overall, we went 1-2 on the day and a really nice moment came when senior captain Liam O’Brien was awarded Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament for the lower weights.”

St. John’s Prep (10-3-2) returned from Attleborough with a four-goal win. Anthony Petruccelli netted a pair of goals, while Jesse Bernardinelli saved all 22 shots headed his way.

In a closely-contested showdown, St. Mary’s (7-8-2) outshot BC High 31-29, but neither side found the back of the net. Matthew Boyer saved 29 shots for the Spartans.

Top-ranked Notre Dame (12-1-3) blanked the No. 3 Spartans (12-2-1), who couldn’t find their offense in a battle of Division 1 powerhouses.
