To the editor:
As I reflect on my first 30 days serving as Ward 7 City Councilor, I do so with deep gratitude and humility.
For those who may not know me, my name is Jordan T. Avery. I was born and raised in Lynn and have proudly called this city home my entire life. From growing up in our neighborhoods to building a business here and now, serving in public office, Lynn has shaped who I am. It is truly an honor and a privilege to represent Ward 7 and serve the city that raised me.
I want to sincerely thank the residents of Ward 7 for the trust and belief you have placed in me. I do not take this responsibility lightly. Public service is about showing up, listening, and working hard every day to improve the quality of life for our community.
The first 30-plus days have been busy. We have faced multiple winter storms, including one of the largest snow events in recent memory. From parking bans and school closures to coordinating with city departments, it has been a demanding start, but I got right to work. Our residents deserve nothing less.
I have spent these early weeks responding to calls, assisting with neighborhood concerns, and collaborating with city officials to address issues affecting Ward 7 and the broader city. There is much work ahead, but I am committed to being accessible, responsive, and proactive.
Lynn is resilient and hardworking. I remain focused on doing my part to help make our city safer, stronger, and an even better place to live for all.
Respectfully,
Jordan T. Avery
Ward 7 Lynn City Councilor Elect
