Trailing by six points at halftime and four after three quarters, it was no problem for the Lady Rams.
Lynn Classical’s girls basketball team, in enemy territory, defeated Everett 48-39 Wednesday. Coach Tom Sawyer’s group outscored Everett 18-5 in the fourth quarter.
“A testament to never giving up,” he said. “I’m very proud of each player individually and the team as a whole with their coachability and growth throughout the season.”
Divine Egbuta led the way with 21 points and 36 rebounds, followed by Evelyn Diaz (9 points).
The Lady Rams finished the regular season 12-4 and 10-4 in the Greater Boston League. They await Saturday’s state tournament pairings (1 p.m.).

Swampscott led 17-16 at halftime, but Marblehead had the last laugh behind Tess Andriano’s 21 points. Lucy and Ainsley MacDonald had 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Nora Mahan and Hailey Schmitt played strong defensively.
“So proud of the effort . . . ready for the tournament,” said Marblehead coach Paul Moran, whose Magicians finished the regular season 13-7.

Fenwick (15-5) captured the Norwell Invitational championship behind Tournament MVP Celia Neilson, who did a little bit of everything with 25 points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Caitlin Boyle (20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists) received All-Tournament Team recognition.

Needing a win to qualify for a play-in state tournament game, the Jets (9-11) were edged in overtime. Marc Poste led Lynn with a goal and three assists, while AJ Cook (goal) and Julius Serino (2 goals, assist) helped the cause. Nicholas DeNino played well between the pipes.

The Spartans (10-9-2) put up a “fight to the final buzzer,” according to coach Matthew Smith, but couldn’t find an equalizer in the Cardinal Classic championship. JJ Avery (goal) and Aiden St. Pierre (assist) led the way, while Avery and Matthew Boyer received All-Tournament Team honors.
