SAUGUS — The Saugus River Watershed Council has named Stephanie Shalkoski and William Leuci as recipients of stewardship awards for this year’s SRWC annual meeting.
The Council has also announced that the annual meeting has once again been moved due to a second snowstorm set to hit on Monday. This will be the second time the meeting has been moved.
The event will now take place on Monday, March 16, at the Marina at the Wharf on 534 N Shore Road in Revere at 6:30 p.m.
The event will include the presentation of the awards, a silent auction, and raffles.
The keynote presentation will be done by Steve Fantone, who will also be providing a wildlife slide show.
The event will also give people a chance to learn more about the new Rumney Marsh Conservancy.
The conservancy is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and deepening public understanding of Rumney Marsh and the surrounding ecosystems.
Rumney Marsh is one of the largest most ecologically important salt marsh systems in Massachusetts, according to the conservancy. Its work focuses on the long-term health of the Rumney Marsh Area of Critical Environmental Concern.
The conservancy noted that the landscape plays a critical role in coastal resilience, flood mitigation, wildlife habitat, and the environmental history of its surroundings.
