St. Mary’s girls and boys hockey teams dazzled Wednesday night, advancing to the Round of 16 in their respective Division 1 state tournaments.
The girls, ranked second behind Notre Dame Academy, kicked off the evening with a 5-1 win against No. 31 Framingham at Connery Rink. They received goals from Annabelle Collins, Keira Twomey, Alyssa Norden, Victoria Swim, and Effie Parsons.
The No. 10 Spartan boys defeated No. 23 Bishop Feehan 4-2 (and for the fourth time this season). St. Mary’s trailed 2-1 heading into the third period, but received clutch goals from Caleb Racki and Aiden St. Pierre (2 goals). Stephen Nason also scored.

Behind goals from Gavin Anderson, Brandon Ward (2), Christian Coleman, Sefton Paradis, Chase Brown, and Anthony Petruccelli, St. John’s (16-3-2) advanced with a Round-of-32 victory in Division 1. The Eagles host No. 14 Arlington Catholic Saturday at 3:20 p.m.

Despite a solid defensive outing, Winthrop couldn’t find the back of the net in Division 1 action. The Vikings bowed out with a record of 10-5-3.

Saugus was bounced from the Division 3 tournament and finished 11-10. Leading the Sachems were Ryan Dupuy (17 points), Huey Josama (16), Cam Conroy (7), and Ryan Shea (6).

No. 34 Lynn Tech 21
The Tigers (13-8) met their match in the preliminary round of the Division 4 tournament. Allison Morales (7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals), Juliana Gerardo (4 points, 11 rebounds), Cassidy Calef (3 points, 10 rebounds), and Mahlyna Williams (2 points, 7 rebounds) played well in defeat.
