SAUGUS — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Route 1 South Friday night near Collins Avenue. Massachusetts State Police identified the victim as 53-year-old Brian McDonald, who was rushed to the hospital for serious injuries and later pronounced dead.
State Police, Saugus Police, and Saugus Fire responded to the scene, where State Police set up the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section to investigate. Preliminary evidence shows that a vehicle traveling in the left lane struck the pedestrian who appeared “suddenly and without warning.”
It has been previously reported that the driver remained on scene and is cooperating as part of the ongoing investigation.
