BYFIELD — It was never in doubt.
In coach Jessica Gambale’s first game in charge of St. Mary’s girls lacrosse team, the Spartans hit the road and defeated Triton 13-3 on Friday.
Ava Nason led the way with five goals, outscoring the Vikings herself. A versatile offense saw Alyssa Norden, Emma Doucette, and Camdyn Driscoll net two goals apiece.
St. Mary’s (1-0) returns to Manning Field for Monday’s home opener against Watertown at 5:30 p.m. From there, it’s back-to-back road games against Malden Catholic and Arlington Catholic.
Last season, the Spartans finished 9-12 and won a Div. 3 state tournament game before losing to traditional archrival Bishop Fenwick in the Round of 32.
