ACTON — After capturing last spring’s Div. 1 state championship, the St. John’s Prep lacrosse team didn’t skip a beat during Saturday’s opener. The Eagles hit the road and defeated Acton-Boxborough 13-1.
Controlling play from the opening face-off, St. John’s built a 9-0 halftime cushion. Ryan McCarthy led Saturday’s show, ripping six goals alongside two assists.
Bo Minogue (3 goals), Beckett Lee (goal, 2 assists), Paul Kosinski (2 assists), goaltender Max Putney (8 saves), and face-off ace Will Crawford (15-of-17) played key roles.
Beginning the season with four road games, St. John’s (1-0) next visits Malden Catholic Tuesday at 4 p.m.
