LYNNFIELD — Select Board Chair Phil Crawford was the recipient of the Lynnfield Town Pride Award from the Greater Lynn Chamber of Commerce at its 2026 GLCC Annual Meeting & Business Excellence Awards.
The award is given to an individual who embodies the pride of Lynnfield, which Crawford does through his work on the Board and his decade of dedication to thoughtful planning, fiscal responsibility, and broad community improvement, according to the Chamber.
“It’s an honor to be nominated and to be chosen. It does give you some fulfillment that you’ve spent the last 15 years on the Board here and 20 years before that doing volunteer work in town. So, it’s nice to have it recognized,” Crawford said.
He said that he appreciates that the Chamber does the event for all the towns in the area.
“I’ll continue serving the town as long as they’ll have me, and I’ll keep doing the volunteer work. We have three generations here. We’re not going anywhere, and I certainly enjoy doing the work here in town,” he said.
Crawford spoke about some of the renovations the Board has been a part of, including the new fire station and town hall.
“Fifteen years before that, we renovated every field, park, and recreational area here in town. We spent several years doing that. We’ve done the Town Common… the war memorial is new… We’ve slowly picked away at a lot of the town side stuff,” he said.
Crawford also mentioned the work done on the different schools.
“I enjoy working with the townspeople and all the administration and figuring out the best way to do it so it has the least impact on the taxpayers,” he said.
The Chamber noted that Crawford has guided the town through 12 balanced budgets, supported infrastructure enhancements like road improvements and historic site preservation, and championed community well-being through projects honoring veterans and expanding housing and senior services.
Crawford is also the founder of A Healthy Lynnfield, bringing substance use awareness, education, and resources to students and families as a part of his commitment to public health and safety.
Crawford said it was a privilege and honor to serve his community.
