SAUGUS — Charkoal’s Brazilian Steakhouse, once the popular Continental Restaurant, had a fire occur early Saturday morning inside the building.
According to reports, the fire department arrived on the scene before 6 a.m., and the restaurant’s sprinkler system was controlling the flames. Though the extent of the damage is unknown, the department managed to get things under control quickly.
The restaurant put out a statement saying that no one had been injured and the damages were not significant.
“We want to extend our sincere thanks to the Saugus Fire Department for their rapid response and professionalism, and support in ensuring everyone’s safety. At this time, everything remains under control, and our team is taking all necessary steps to move forward safely and efficiently,” they stated.
The work on the restaurant has been tedious as crews are extending the parking lot, gutting the inside completely, and replacing the furniture.
The restaurant currently remains on track to open in the summer, according to the statement.
