You know what I’ve been thinking? There’s nothing better than a top player setting the tone — nothing. Just look at Marblehead’s girls lacrosse team, which has been led by Zoe Dwyer through three games.
Despite a season-opening loss against Woburn, Dwyer did her thing with four goals and three assists. She led the Magicians in both categories. (Emma Ryan also scored four goals.)
Days later, with Bishop Fenwick in town, Dwyer took complete control with eight goals and two assists for a 10-point evening.
“The gameplan today was to push the ball fast and capitalize on our speed in the midfield. Our offense came ready to play and moved the ball quickly. Zoe Dwyer led the way with eight goals,” said Marblehead coach Annie Madden. “We’re excited to see the chemistry continue to build.”
Against Beverly, on Monday, Dwyer again found the back of the net despite an 18-2 loss.
Next up for the Magicians (1-2) is Friday’s home game against traditional archrival Swampscott at 4:30 p.m.
Zoe, good week.
