LTTE: Vote Ted Dooley for Swampscott Select Board

To the editor

April 20, 2026 by To the editor

To the editor,

I am writing in support of Ted Dooley’s candidacy for Select Board here in Swampscott.

I worked as the Recreation Director for the Town of Swampscott for more than 20 years until my retirement last year. I had the opportunity to work alongside Ted while co-organizing the annual Swamptoberfest fundraiser for the last several years, raising funds to support the annual July 3 fireworks. Throughout this experience, I found Ted to be exceptionally easy to work with and highly effective in a collaborative environment.

Ted played a key role in coalescing and organizing volunteers, ensuring that the event was well-staffed and ran without disruption. He also demonstrated strong attention to detail in managing the event’s budget and tracking key metrics, helping to ensure the event’s overall success with strong community participation.

In my interactions with Ted, I have been consistently impressed by his professionalism, his respect for municipal operations, and his ability to work constructively with town staff while understanding the roles and responsibilities across both elected leadership and town departments. These are qualities that translate directly to effective service on the Select Board, where collaboration, sound judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and clear communication are essential.

Based on my years of experience working directly with him, I believe Ted Dooley would be a valuable, thoughtful, and steady presence on the Select Board, and I am confident he will serve our community well. I encourage you to join me in using one of your two votes for Ted Dooley for Select Board on April 28.

Sincerely,
Danielle Strauss
Swampscott
