LYNN — A road rage altercation along the Lynnway Friday morning left one person injured and prompted an ongoing investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
Troopers assigned to the Revere Barracks responded shortly before 9:30 a.m. to the area of Route 1A near Sunny’s Car Wash in Lynn after receiving reports of an assault tied to a confrontation that began near Lynnway North and Harding Street. Revere Fire and EMS also arrived on scene to assist.
State police said one individual was punched in the face during the incident and fell from a curb, suffering a laceration. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made.
Investigators said the person who allegedly threw the punch remained at the scene. Detectives assigned to Troop A are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Videos shared on social media appear to show parts of the incident as it unfolded.
In one clip, two men, one wearing a bright red sweatshirt and another in black, are seen fighting on the right side of the Lynnway with two women following.
One woman in green is heard to be encouraging the physical violence between the men.
“Let’s stop it,” the other woman in pink said.
A coach bus was forced to brake as the altercation spilled into the roadway.
Another video shows a confrontation with the same man in bright red but altercating with a different man in a dark red sweatshirt to the opposite side of the street near the car wash. A third man and one of the same women appear to intervene.
Moments later, the man with a darker red sweatshirt punches the man in the brighter red sweatshirt, knocking him to the ground, where his head hits the pavement.
The footage then shows the individual who threw the punch, walking away from the scene as bystanders go to help.
The incident remains under investigation.
