BOSTON — Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), operating partner for the MBTA Commuter Rail, has awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships to five high school students from Lynn. The students can each use their $2,000 scholarship to help pay for post-secondary education or job training.
Every academic year since 2015-2016, Keolis has collaborated with public school districts that largely educate students from underserved communities and first-generation families to select Keolis Scholars and distribute the awards, which are based on both merit and financial need.
The selected students and their families were recognized at an awards ceremony held at the State House featuring state and local officials.
“Each year, Keolis Commuter Services brings support to our local communities through the Keolis Scholars initiative, providing scholarships to students throughout Massachusetts,” Sen. Brendan Crighton said. “Thanks to Keolis for recognizing the hard work of these students and congratulations to all of the awardees on this incredible achievement.”
“Congratulations to Delyanna Assade on this incredible achievement,” Rep.Jenny Armini said. “Her dedication, perseverance, and promise exemplify the bright future of Lynn’s students, and I am proud to celebrate her success. Thank you to Keolis Commuter Services for continuing to invest in young leaders through this meaningful scholarship program.”
“Keolis is committed to the communities we serve every day, including Lynn,” said John Killeen, CEO and general manager of Keolis Commuter Services. “I am honored to celebrate the accomplishments of each of these students alongside their families as well as state and local officials, school counselors, and teachers. As a provider of transit solutions globally, Keolis is committed to helping to build the highly-skilled workforce that our industry relies upon.”
